The reception staff are members of the practice team and it has been agreed they should ask patients “why they need to be seen”.
Receptionist staff are trained to ask certain questions in order to ensure you receive:
- the most appropriate care;
- from the most appropriate health professional;
- at the most appropriate time.
It is not a case of the receptionist being nosey, they are there to help you and anything you tell them will be treated in absolute confidence and will be pleased to help with matters such as appointments, messages to and from the Doctors, Doctors’ comments on test results, and advise on which clinic or professional you should see.
